Flat earthers are all around the world..

they don't actually believe it - it's a form of escapism / role play, symptomatic of a society which structures have not kept pace with its technology.

Why "atmospheric refraction" worked only in the boat with the flag and doesnt work with the other ships which can be "clearly seen" (these ships are never "illusions") moving "below" the horizon? Maybe the planets werent aligned enough to create the specific weather conditions? When you look horizontally in a straight line, after some distance your field of view moves towards the ground, NOT the sky, this is what creates the horizon. It is like throwing a ball, first it will fly straight and eventually it will curve towards the ground and fall, that happens to the photons when you look through the atmosphere, the higher the place you threw the ball from, the longer it will take to hit the ground, the further you can see. When a ship 2 meters tall is next to you, the 2 cm tides hitting on it cannot be seen, when the ship has the size of 1cm because it is in a distance, the 2cm tides between you and the ship will be "huge" enough to start hiding its sight from the bottom, because that's where the tides are. For some "mysterious" reason, this effect cannot be observed in bodies of water that have no tides, like lakes and rivers.

I did some artwork book covers for a certain author who is one of the top in his category. Conspiracy. I was introduced to this author as he covered aliens. I like aliens...so I thought it's a worthy topic to discuss. I got excited to do the art because this guy had a PhD and was successful. Clearly a logical thinker. Soon I discovered this was not the case he was a flat earthers and eventually released books suggesting the moon was hollow and aliens lived inside it. I was sad...but I decided to jump ship as I began to become linked with this guy. He would mention me, as his artist, on radio programs and interviews. I dodnt want to be associated with all that jazz. Eventually we had a falling out when I started to debate his ideas on social media. LOL.

Evolution says that we and the apes shared a common ancestor at some stage and that we went in seperate evolutionary ways,through various iterations until they and us arrived where we are now. Atmospheric refraction can be amazing. Once, during a bus stop-over in Salt Lake City, Utah, I was gazing across the salt flats at the distant mountains floating in the sky. Even though I knew (more or less) what was causing the phenomenon, it was still eerily beautiful. It was also rather startling when I watched a large passenger jet serenely fly under the mountains.

I'm a member of the primary Greek flat earth page on Facebook (just for the fun of it, of course), and i can verify three common behaviors that were mentioned in the video a) posting photos they've themselves taken of the distant horizon, with titles like "I see no curvature here". b) making up conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory and use them as counter arguments against real arguments for earths curvature, and c) using bible passages as scientific arguments I only watched this for entertainment purposes, but the accuracy amazed me.

All good questions, so I don’t mind sharing some information that might help answer them. The Van Allen radiation belt is really not all that harmful to life, especially with proper shielding, which is achieved pretty easily with simple materials. It presents an increased risk to certain cancers over time, but it’s certainly not as harmful as you’re assuming it to be, it’s not going to kill anyone immediately or even guarantee cancer development later in life. So a crew can pass through this field just fine, it just increases risk a bit, but luckily they don’t have to spend much exposure time here, they can pass through it pretty quickly. The larger problem we face today though, is the harm it does to our more sensitive computing systems today, microchips, magnetic strip data storage, that kind of stuff. See this wasn’t a problem during the Apollo missions, because the systems were all analog, which weren’t damaged by strong electromagnetic fields. So this presented an engineering challenge, because they’re gonna want more advanced systems so they can achieve more on their missions, but they kind of need everything to work without failing, so new computer innovations needed to be developed. Which fun fact is largely why we have better solid state technology today, which currently makes up your phones hard drives. They didn’t lose all their data, they lost the telemetry data for a few Apollo missions, that’s about it. Telemetry data is really only useful in the moments during a mission, it helps the ground crew keep the astronauts on course, if they veer off for any reason during maneuvering. It’s really not all that useful after the fact, so it didn’t have very high importance for preservation, once those data reels began to deteriorate. It had some uses for learning more about orbital mechanics and improving future missions launch trajectories, but they’ve got so much data now from probes and satellites, it’s really not very useful to keep those old telemetry data reels, so it was likely a budget cut or two that led to those getting scrapped. NASA is a corporation at the end of the day, if their pencil pushers don’t see any need for spending money where it doesn’t need to be spent, then they won’t, so many things get scrapped like that, it’s pretty normal in any big company. They can go beyond low Earth orbit any time they want and they are, just look up the Artemis program. The confusion here comes from an old documentary on a lunar module they were designing not to long ago, that at the time couldn’t go beyond low Earth orbit. That was because of the engineering hurdles I mentioned above, the microchips and data disks they wanted to put on the systems, were easily damaged in the electromagnetic fields found beyond low Earth orbit. So, what happened was, people took those words out of context and blew it out of proportion, confusing it as somehow meaning NASA has never been past low Earth orbit...so it’s a classic misinterpretation of what was really said. Get that idea rolling around enough conspiracy networks, all of a sudden it’s remembered as “NASA said it can’t go past low Earth orbit”, see how that works? It’s like a rumour mill, grossly misrepresenting the actual facts, by repeating a misunderstanding enough times, until it becomes truth to many people. At least the rising Earth hypothesis makes an attempt at accounting for the accelerating motion observed and measured from falling objects...the density argument makes no attempt at all to explain anything, just asserts it’s correct and calls it a day. Do you really think that’s how science should be conducted? I don’t think you quite understand just how useful the current understanding of gravity has been and is for much of modern society. And it’s very ignorant to claim it’s “never been proven”, it’s one of the most rigorously tested concepts in all of physics, and it proves itself accurate every time we use the constant of gravity in equations to make predictions in the real world, everything from orbital mechanics, to rocket science, to flight aeronautics, or even buoyancy equations used in the engineering and mechanics of submarines. You’d have to ignore a LOT of modern engineering and exploration, to conclude gravity has never been proven. The big problem with the density argument is this, it does nothing to explain how or why matter falls at all, or why it’s always in the same vector direction, always at the same rate of acceleration? It’s best answer is “it just does”, and I’m sorry...but science can’t really do much with “it just does”. So basically, the density argument stops short, it just takes gravity theory and chops out the bits it doesn’t like...which is just extremely bias and ridiculous, it’s lazy science and it’s ignorant. What it’s ignoring is that falling is a motion, when something is dropped, it is then put into an accelerating motion, that is free from any other influence. Which makes it a physical phenomenon of nature...which is what science is for, figuring out how physical reality works. It’s the motion that matters here, what is putting matter into motion? The first law of motion states, that nothing is put into motion without a force first acting upon it. So it’s pretty simple, forces are required to put matter into motion, dropped matter is put into an accelerating motion, so doesn’t take much to deduce that a force of some kind is present that is causing this. Density is not a force, it just a property of matter, it has no means for putting matter into motion, and certainly not in any specific direction. So the density argument doesn’t answer anything, it just stops short. But understand that gravity wasn’t the top contender right away, it took awhile to reach that conclusion for certain. There were many other hypothesized answers before gravity was ever considered, like electromagnetism, static attractions, air pressure, etc, but the only one that held up was gravity under the idea that mass attracts other mass, through a yet to be determined mechanism (we understand it to be the bending of space time today). The experiment that first verified mass attracting mass was the Cavendish experiment, which has been recreated many times over the last couple centuries. So it’s not as simple as you seem to think it is and it’s a bit ignorant to claim that gravity “has never been proven”. I think the confusion here stems from the language that’s used, you probably think that because gravity is a theory, it must mean it’s never been proven. To which I think you could really benefit from learning the difference between a regular theory and a scientific theory nolocal.info/have/video/nWJ8YcWmtKygw6Y, they’re not the same thing. Scientific theory’s are basically proven concepts, nothing graduates to a theory of science, until it’s been rigorously tested and is the only model left standing after the process of falsification concludes.

Flat earthers make me laugh. If the Sun is about 3,000 miles above the earth at it's closest according to their own calculations and the earth is flat the Sun would not set anywhere. It would always be above the horizon. I have seen flat earth maps and how the 51 miles in diameter Sun circles above the earth. It does not go below the horizon on their map. It always appears above the horizon. Check it out and you will see what I mean😃 I got some criticisms of NASA as well but that is another story.

The only thing i know is that there are many many countries I have signed the Antarctica treaty. These people are at war everyday yet no one dose anything on Antarctica. Your talking about when the boat goes out of visible sight wit the naked eye. NOT when it disappears under the horizon. When you bring it back into view it will actually go under the horizon if you give it time to get far away enough. When it REALLY goes under the horizon nothing, not even the most powerful telescope will bring it back into view. This is NOT something NASA told me or anyone. NASA doesn't deal with boats. This has been known by sea navigators for CENTURIES! NASA was founded in the 1950s. Almost no one thought the earth was flat before it existed so there wouldn't have been little point in making this mulit billion dollar industry to dedicate to hiding the flat earth if there were brely any flat earthers anyway.. All NAVIGATORS care about the shape of the earth. Their job depend on it. If you don't know the shape of the earth you can not tell the distance from A to B and can not tell in what direction it is. Airlines and shipping depends on KNOWING this.

I decided to devote myself to looking into Flat Earth with a very open mind, for a couple of months to the point that my wife was getting slightly concerned. I watched all of the “absolute proof” videos plus most other available information. I saw NOTHING that vaguely convinced me. Also, the Bible doesn’t claim “Flat Earth” and in addition, the pagans in England (Wiltshire), Egypt, Mexico and so on, all believed that the Earth was spherical along with all of the other planets, satellites and stars. My conclusion. Flat Earth is pure bullshit, has nothing to do with real Christianity or the Bible and is a theory pushed by really dangerous and aggressive people. Having said all of this, the scientific world is full of contradictions and opposing evidence. Making absolute statements about the veracity capabilities of science is at best “hopefully disingenuous”. Also, we are living in a time where matters of gender and sexuality are risibly science denying, yet I see few in the scientific world brave enough to challenge the Marxist b/s being touted today. In the final analysis, scientific evidence, veracity and authority belongs to those with the most powerful voices.

I think there's neither absolute evidence of the flat, or globe model. He made fun of Robotham's claims which are debunked but then asserted that the theory of atmospheric refraction is as it says. Also doing the same with evolution; that says he already subscribes to another set of ideas opposite to the flat earthers. He says that gravity is a proven fact. No conflict of interest there. So no buddy you believe in theories already so you can not be an impartial auditor for that discussion. Stop making amalgams of misinformation to satisfy your ego, and the ones of your followers.

The irony of a flat earther condemning anyone for impartiality is hilariously ironic. Given that you reject every piece of evidence that doesn't fit your narrative. Your part of the new breed of flat earthers that claim they are not a flat earther yet only accepts evidence for a flat earth. You do it to conveniently avoid anything approaching a burden of proof. It means you can sit and reject all the evidence of a globe while never being required to explain your own flat earth theory which, despite clams to be "impartial;" is exactly what you believe. This represents an increasing desperation in the dying embers of the flat earth movement. We just want to point out that *"it's just a theory" is not a valid argument* . The Theory of Gravity is a theory, but guess what? When scientists use the word theory, it has a different meaning to normal everyday use.1 That's right, it all comes down to the multiple meanings of the word theory. If you said to a scientist that you didn't believe in gravity because it was "just a theory", they'd probably be a bit puzzled. In everyday use, theory means a guess or a hunch, something that maybe needs proof. In science, a theory is not a guess, not a hunch. It's a well-substantiated, well-supported, well-documented explanation for our observations.2 It ties together all the facts about something, providing an explanation that fits all the observations and can be used to make predictions. In science, theory is the ultimate goal, the explanation. It's as close to proven as anything in science can be. Some people think that in science, you have a theory, and once it's proven, it becomes a law. That's not how it works. In science, we collect facts, or observations, we use laws to describe them, and a theory to explain them. You don't promote a theory to a law by proving it. A theory never becomes a law. This bears repeating. A theory never becomes a law. In fact, if there was a hierarchy of science, theories would be higher than laws. There is nothing higher, or better, than a theory. Laws describe things, theories explain them. An example will help you to understand this. There's a law of gravity, which is the description of gravity. It basically says that if you let go of something it'll fall. It doesn't say why. Then there's the theory of gravity, which is an attempt to explain why. Actually, Newton's Theory of Gravity did a pretty good job, but Einstein's Theory of Relativity does a better job of explaining it. These explanations are called theories, and will always be theories. They can't be changed into laws, because laws are different things. Laws describe, and theories explain. Just because it's called a theory of gravity, doesn't mean that it's just a guess. It's been tested. All our observations are supported by it, as well as its predictions that we've tested. Also, gravity is real! You can observe it for yourself. Just because it's real doesn't mean that the explanation is a law. *The explanation, in scientific terms, is called a theory* . Same goes for EVOLUTION. A scientific theory is a PROVEN FACT, boy. Now run along and go play outside.

Seeing as we have observed the effects of a globe over visibility (things being obscured by the horizon) the effect of atmospheric refraction (light travelling through mediums) the effects of evolution (the entire field of paleontology) and the effects of gravity (both on Earth and outside of it) I'd say all of these are pretty solid facts. Also, theories are not hypotheses in the scientific world. They are collections of facts that explain how the world works.
